Marthes smoothie

Hello!

Now I must be honest: this is not one of my own recipes. I got it from my friend Marthe, who is a great fan of smoothies. I like to drink them in the morning, as a breakfast. Sometimes I do not feel like something heavy such as bread or crackers, and a bowl of yogurt or quark seems to much. A smoothie is the perfect option because it is light, easy and it contains a huge amount of vitamins. I made this one this morning and I am a huge fan!

Ingredients
  • 1 medium sized banana
  • 2 ribs of celery (the original recipe uses 3, which gives it a more 'green' taste. this could also make it a bit more bitter)
  • 1 orange
  • 1 lime (only use the juice)
  • 2 tablespoons flax seeds

Kitchen essentials
  • Blender

To make it easier to drink, you can add some water. If you want a richer or more diverse taste, you can add in some nuts, which are, as you know, my favourites. For me, this recipe works perfectly.

Slice the banana and celery and put them in the blender. Prepare the orange. The best way to do this is by first cutting of the top and bottom and place it on a cutting board. Now, working in slices, peel the orange. You can now cut the parts out by using a small, sharp knife. Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice out of it. If you do not want the seeds to end up in your smoothie, you can squeeze the juice onto your hand to stop the seeds from falling in. Add the flax seeds and blend for a minute. Continue until your smoothie is soft and drinkable.

Enjoy!

Love,

Jasmijn
